PALMETTO – Last month, Palmetto Mayor Shirley Groover Bryant declared August 27th, 2011 as Children’s Summit Day. The Children's Summit has been celebrated for 16 years now. The theme this year was ”Health Famlies-Happy Families.“
The Mayor encouraged all Manatee County citizens to come out to the Manatee County Convention and Civic Center to exchange information on all services available for Manatee County children, as well as sharing ways to better serve abused, neglected, abandoned, at risk and economically disadvantaged children in our area.
It goes without saying, the kids also had a blast at the convention. As usual, the day was packed full of children receiving free donations and gifts from local corporations. The hundreds of kids that attended enjoyed facepainting, a rock wall, balloon sculpture and more.
