HOLMES BEACH - A celebratory pirate-themed tradition for kids started in 1954 by Holmes Beach Police Chief Willis "Snook" Adams will return Saturday, June 11 at Anna Maria Island's Bay Front Park.
Digging for buried treasure, timber-shivering (water) pistol fights, a competition between who has the most swashbuckling pirate costume, scavenger hunts, prizes and even a 60 ft Pirate Ship.
Hosted by the AMI Privateers, "Snook Adams Kids Day" will mark the end of the school year and the beginning of summer vacation for students, who will also be able to participate in pirate games, tales and song.
Bay Front Park is located at 316 North Bay Boulevard in Anna Maria Island.
