BRADENTON – This summer break, one of the things that my son Sullivan and I are doing is to volunteer at the Manatee County Animal Services Center, walking the dogs and hopefully getting a few adopted. Animals services' responsibilities include the apprehension and impoundment of stray and loose dogs and cats, including the sick and injured.
Each week, the Bradenton Times features a homeless animal being cared for by Manatee County Animal Services, in the hope of finding them a good home where they can bring joy to the life of a local resident or family. Meet Spot, a loveable Lab mix with an energetic and friendly temperament.
Spot is active, but very obedient. He loves to run and has a unique stride to say the least. Down by the Manatee River, we let him get up to a full sprint, but rather than the normal left paw/right paw routine, spot bounds like a cheetah, extending all limbs at once. He's playful, housebroken, great with kids, and can sit and offer a paw on command.
I'm sure that Spot will make some local family very happy for years to come. Click here for information on how to adopt Spot or any of the other animals at the shelter.
