MANATEE--Throughout a busy musical career that got underway in the early 1950’s, Dick Hyman has functioned as pianist, organist, arranger, music director, and composer. His versatility in all of these areas has resulted in film scores, orchestral compositions, concert appearances and well over 100 albums recorded under his own name. He will be performing a concert with bassist Nicky Parrot and banjoist Cynthia Sayer on Friday February 4th at 8:00 p.m. in the Players Theater in Sarasota as part of the weeklong Sarasota Jazz Festival.
Bradenton Times reporter Doug Miles spoke with Dick Hyman earlier this week who talks about his upcoming concert and working as musical arranger for Woody Allen on several of his films. That interview is posted below.
