PODCAST: Interview With Shergul Arshad, The Luckiest Sports Fan Alive

Posted

MANATEE--If you had the time, access and funds to do it, what sporting events would you go to? Shergul Arshad asked himself that question and found a way to go to six Super Bowls, five World Cups, four World Series, three NBA Finals and a Stanley Cup Final just to name a handful of the dozens of events he has seen in person.

Shergul Arshad recounts his fantasy shared by most sports fans in his book ”40 x 40, The Luckiest Sports Fan Alive: 40 True Sports Adventures Before the Age of 40“. He has played football at Gillette Stadium, the home of his beloved New England Patriots, made a birdie at St. Andrews, the home of golf in Scotland and taken batting practice at Fenway Park.

Born in Florence, Italy, Shergul Arshad’s family moved to a suburb of Boston when he was a child. He quickly became a sports fan of all the Boston teams. Shergul calls himself a true fan and says it’s not as difficult as you might think to get into all the top sports events if you make the right contacts.

Below is an interview I did with Shergul Arshad who talks about some of his favorite events and how he found ways to get in to see them.
