PORT CHARLOTTE — The Marauders (26-15, 58-53) stayed within two games of the Palm Beach Cardinals by silencing Charlotte (16-23, 61-48) 2-1 on Saturday night. LHP Cody Dickson (W, 10-5) pitched into the seventh inning and allowed only two hits to earn his 10th win in his third attempt.
Charlotte managed just three hits in the game.
CF Austin Meadows homered in the first to kick off a three-hit night. Meadows also homered in his final at-bat on Friday. Bradenton extended the lead to 2-0 when LF Justin Maffei scored on a double play grounder in the third.
RHP Henry Hirsch stranded four Stone Crabs baserunners over 1 1/3 innings. RHP Montana DuRapau tossed a perfect ninth for his eighth save.
The game began at 7:01 p.m. under overcast skies, 76 degrees, and wind blowing 7 mph from
left to right. Cody Dickson is the fifth Marauder to win 10 or more games in a single season; he joins Chad Kuhl (13 in ’14), Tyler Glasnow (12 in ’14), Nate Adcock (11 in ’10), and Nathan Baker (10 in ’11). Meadows has homered five times in the second half of the season after hitting just two home runs in the first half. The Marauders grounded into double plays in four consecutive innings from the second through the fifth.
The Marauders visit Charlotte for the final time to face the Stone Crabs at Charlotte Sports
Park. RHP Clay Holmes will be on the mound for the Marauders while Charlotte has RHP Germen
Marquez slated to throw. Live streaming audio will be available on www.BradentonMarauders.com and on the TuneIn App.
