BRADENTON — The Marauders (30-17, 62-55) dropped a 3-1 game to the Charlotte Stone Crabs (17-28, 62-53) at McKechnie Field on Friday night. Charlotte snapped an 11-game losing streak with the win.

Bradenton got eight strong innings from LHP Cody Dickson (L, 10-6) for the longest start by any Bradenton pitcher this season. Dickson surrendered four hits and two earned runs, one on a solo home run to Armando Araiza. He did not walk a batter and struck out one. RHP Junior Lopez pitched the top of the ninth and allowed one run on a solo home run to Yoel Araujo.

Brent Honeywell (W, 4-2) held Bradenton hitless until the bottom of the sixth. LF Justin Maffei belted a two-out double, but Honeywell bounced back to strand Maffei at second. Honeywell whiffed three and walked one. Chih-Wei Hu pitched the final three innings and struck out four. Bradenton’s only run scored on an RBI-single by 1B Jordan Steranka with two outs in the ninth.

Bradenton remains three games behind Palm Beach in the South Division 2nd Half standings.

The game began after at 6:34 p.m. under overcast skies, 87 degrees, and wind blowing 9 mph in from center. Cody Dickson suffered the loss for the first time in his last seven decisions. 

The Marauders host Charlotte for the final meeting between the two teams this season at 6:30 p.m. RHP Clay Holmes will be on the mound for the Marauders and Charlotte will have RHP German Marquez on the hill.
