Press release and invitation to a reporter

The adult students of Project Light of Manatee, Inc will have two end of year ceremonies and celebrations on June 28,2018. They will be held at 9:30 AM and 6:45 PM at 1104 14th St W, Bradenton. Project Light teaches English to speakers of other languages. There are six levels of classes that are offered mornings and evenings. Students come primarily from Latin America and Haiti. We also currently have students from Pakistan, Czech Republic, and Vietnam. Each ceremony will have short speeches from a Board member, teachers and students. All students will receive a certificate of participation. Students will provide refreshments including American and international dishes.

Also, of interest to the community of Bradenton is the 50 ft long mural, St Frances and the Animals of Florida. As part of our Martin Luther King Day of Service project, 40 volunteers worked over 400 hours to repaint the mural, clean and reline the parking lot, and paint the inside and outside of the building. Many of those volunteers who are our students, teachers and Board members will attend the celebrations.

Project Light added citizenship interview preparation classes last year and about 9 students have taken the course and obtained their citizenship. Charles Cunningham, teacher and Board member, is responsible for that program. Students who earned their citizenship will be invited to attend the celebration.

Project Light is a non-profit community organization supported by grants and donations. Fall classes will begin on August 13,2018. New students and volunteer teachers are welcome. More information is available at www.projectlightofmanatee.org
