Rhetta Jean Wilson, age 75, passed away at Birchwood Skilled Nursing Home in Sarasota, Florida on Sunday, November 19, 2023. She was the daughter of James "Barney" Walker and Dorothy (Kinder) Walker.
Rhetta had a wide circle of friends as a result of all the years she spent working in retail sales. She was head cashier at Hills Department Store #19 for many years. She was a sales associate at Lowes and Staples. She also worked as a Receptionist for Doctors Reilly and Highberger. From driving the Span Van to working with the Indiana County Human Society, Rhetta was always eager to meet people and make friends. All day shopping trips or just cruising that resulted in stopping at a restaurant at some point was her favorite pastime. She also loved working with Flowers, especially with her daughter in-law at her Floral Shop. "If my heart was not light, I would die" was an apt description. Rhetta also loved family get-togethers, especially Christmas.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; her son, Michael; her daughter-in-law, Donna; her granddaughter, Amanda; her sisters, Patricia and Wendy (John); her brother, Ken (Cheryl); sisters-in-law, Marlene Walker, Linda Miller and Linda Wilson; her nieces and nephews and her beloved "Littles", Moe, Gina and Mocha. She was preceded in passing by her parents; her brother, James (Hooker); her brothers-in-law, Floyd (Ice), Alfred (Fred), Robert (Craig) and her nephews, Nathan and Patrick.
A Celebration of Life will be held In January in Sarasota at a date and place to be determined. Brown and Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
