Robert E. Bracken (known as Bob to family and close friends), 84, of Palmetto, FL passed away on April 12, 2023.
He was a man who appreciated a crackling bonfire on a crisp Autumn night with a good bourbon in hand, though was often most fond of his drink of choice, an ice-cold Michelob Ultra. He lived a wonderful life of 84 years doing all the things that brought him joy–fishing off the Skyway Bridge, hunting in his home state of PA, golfing Buffalo Creek, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and walking the shoreline of Myrtle Beach–but most of all he spent those years spending every moment he could with his adoring family.
Robert was born in Indiana, PA in 1939. He served in the Army as Military Police from 1958-1961. He married his beautiful bride, Linda, in 1961 and they moved to Ohio where they started their family. Robert worked as a millwright at Ford Casting Plant in Cleveland for 40 years and was a proud member of the UAW. He retired in 1996 and moved to Palmetto, Florida to live a life in the sun.
He was known to remind his loved ones to appreciate the small things and "Be Happy." He fills this world with a legacy of love and memories that will be carried on through his devoted wife, Linda Bracken, his children, Wendy Cieslak (Paul), Jodi Edwards (Lee), and Gary Bracken (Nancy McCourt), his grandchildren Trista Edwards (Aaron Wolin), Sarah Constantino (Chris), Aaron Edwards (Hilarie Riley), Ben Cieslak (Kate), three great-grandchildren, Zoey, Rocco, and Reed; and his sister, Jeanne Hamil.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Francis Bracken, and brother, Gerald.
Graveside Service will be 11:30 A.M. at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
