Robert Phares, age 97, of Palmetto, Florida, died peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2024. He was born on August 15, 1927, in Richwood, West Virginia, to Benjamin and Laura Phares.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Laura Phares; his beloved wife, Verle; his son, Jerry Lee; and all nine of his siblings. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members from coast to coast, who will forever cherish his memory.
A proud veteran, Bob served in the U.S. Army during World War II, though he did not see combat, as the war ended before his deployment. After the war, Bob worked for Champion Spark Plug Company in Toledo, Ohio, before retiring from Lakewood Greenhouse in Northwood, Ohio. In addition to his professional career, Bob was a retired priest in the New Apostolic Church in Toledo, where he dedicated many years to serving his faith and community.
The family held a private memorial service to honor Bob's life. Those wishing to pay their respects may visit his grave at Locust Grove Cemetery in Peebles, Ohio.
