Roger S. Kaufman, MD "Doc," 89, of Bradenton, Florida and Syracuse, New York, passed away December 17, 2024.
It is with the deepest sadness that Dr. Roger S. Kaufman was suddenly called away from his family and friends very unexpectedly. He was the son of Dr. Benjamin and Claire Kaufman of Brooklyn, New York.
Roger graduated from Peddie High School, Prinston University Phi Beta Kappa class of '56, Columbia University Medical School, Residency in Massachusetts Eye and Ear.
Roger served as a Captain in the US Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis, full professor at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, President of the Opera Society in Syracuse, Board of Directors of the Sarasota Opera, book editor of The Journal of Otolaryngology, solo practice, ENT Head and Neck Surgeon.
Roger was an avid runner, completing 11 marathons. Also enjoyed tennis, golf, and reading.
Roger is survived by his wife Kristin Kaufman "Dolce' ", brother Dr.
Herbert (Maija) Kaufman, children, Dr. Jason Kaufman, Holly Welsh (David), Drs. Cynthia Kaufman (Elizabeth Bendik), Michelle Kravetz, Karin (Guy) Falcone, grandchildren Evan Welsh, Adah Welsh, Louis Kaufman, Ruby Kaufman, Danielle Kravetz, Jonathan Kravetz, Thomas Kravetz, Penelope Falcone, Sierra Falcone and 2 great grandchildren.
Roger loved his family dearly!
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jewish National Found (JNF) or plant a tree in Roger's memory.
Services will be held at Toale Brothers, 40 N. Orange Ave., Sarasota, FL 34236 11am, January 5, 2025.
