Rubio Hits the Campaign Trail to Stump for Scott

Posted

BRADENTON — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio hit the campaign trail for Florida Governor Rick Scott on Monday. Rubio and Scott made several stops in the Senator's native Miami area, campaigning in both English and Spanish.

The duo, who were both elected in the Republican Tea Party wave of 2010, were joined by Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam and Scott's Lieutenant Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera.

Rubio, who has no love lost for his 2010 Senate-race opponent, has not been short on negative words for Crist as the former governor looks to return to Tallahassee, where he served as Republican Governor, while Rubio was Speaker of the Florida House.

"He was an unmitigated disaster as Governor of Florida," Rubio said of Crist in an interview after last Wednesday's debate at Broward College, "and I can't imagine us going back to where we were in 2010 under his failed leadership."

Crist and Scott remained deadlocked in the polls heading into tonight's nationally-televised debate on CNN.
