Bradenton -- The high school Media and Broadcasting Class at
Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School recently won the Healthy Teens Coalition of Manatee County Student Film Competition in conjunction with the Sarasota Film Festival YOUTHfest "Hollywood Nights Student Cinema Showcase".
Their 5 minute PSA, "Teens and Technology Addiction" was screened on April 10th at the Van Wezel as part of the film festival.Saint Stephen’s Media and Broadcasting Class members include: Michael Roberts, Alec Morris, Tighe Mullins, Erik Schulz, Taylor Gravely, Jose Miguel Rosales Cruz, Jillian Kernan, Chad Tolentino, Andrea Carrassi, Sean Kelly and Nick Moore; the teacher is Mrs. ChrisAnn Esformes.
The Sarasota Film Festival's Outreach and Education Department’s mission is to inspire, educate, and entertain the community through curriculum in free filmmaking, film critique, screenwriting, and movie screening programs. The 2011 youthFEST offers a dozen educational programs for students and teachers that focus on the language, execution, and significance of film along with four family-friendly events. youthFEST also features more than forty culturally, socially, and thematically diverse short films, narrative, and documentary feature films.
