Schools and Education Class of 2012 Makes Future Plans

BRADENTON – Manatee County seniors in the Class of 2012 earned more than $14 million in scholarships and have been accepted into more than 120 colleges and universities across America and into six branches of the United States Military.

More than 370 Manatee District graduates in the Class of 2012 have been awarded Florida Bright Futures Scholarships – scholarships awarded to Florida high school graduates based on high academic achievement.

Colleges and universities around the United States which accepted Manatee District seniors from the Class of 2012 included Harvard, Brown, Duke, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of North Carolina, University of California Berkley, University of California Los Angeles, the United States Military Academy and the United States Naval Academy.

Closer to home, students in the district’s 2012 senior class have been accepted to colleges and universities all across the state of Florida including Bethune-Cookman University, Eckerd College, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Flagler College, Florida A&M University, Florida Atlantic University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida Institute of Technology, Florida International University, Florida Southern College, Florida State University, New College, Palm Beach Atlantic University, Ringling School of Art & Design, Rollins College, Southeastern University, St. Leo University, State College of Florida, Stetson University, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, University of Miami, University of Tampa, University of West Florida and Webber International University.

Students from Manatee County’s Class of 2012 will also enter the following branches of the United States Military: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Merchant Marine and Navy.
