BRADENTON — Dr. Diana Greene, Manatee County School District's Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum, has been named one of three finalists in a South Carolina school district's search for a new superintendent. Dr. Greene has been credited as an instrumental part of Manatee's drastic improvement in state rankings, as well as its impressive turnaround among its Title 1 schools.

In 2012, Greene was second in the running for Manatee's top spot, ultimately losing out to current superintendent Rick Mills, who then made her the first employee hired in his new administration.
Dr. Greene had previously served as an assistant superintendent in Marion County, which was ranked ahead of Manatee Schools in state rankings, despite having more Title 1 students.
Dr. Greene is one of three finalists selected from a pool of 77 candidates by Richland County School District 1, which includes downtown Columbia. According to an article in Columbia daily newspaper The State, the school board says it hopes to make a decision before the end of this month.
