Scott Continues to Campaign Hard in SRQ

Posted

SARASOTA — Governor Scott has enjoyed a strong base of support in Sarasota in terms of both fundraising and voter enthusiasm. After visiting his campaign office there on Sunday afternoon, he knocked on doors throughout Sarasota to campaign for re-election.

The Sarasota-Manatee area will be an important territory for the governor as he seeks to fend off former Republican Governor Charlie Crist in November's election. Scott outperformed his statewide average in both counties when he defeated Democrat Alex Sink in 2010.

Crist also did well in the two Republican leaning counties as governor and is hoping that some of that support was strong enough to cross party lines and inspire at least a sizable number of Republicans to vote for him even though he's now a Democrat.
