HOLMES BEACH – Astronomy will be on island time next Saturday, April 16, when a group of local enthusiasts gather with their telescopes to hold "Sidewalk Astronomy" in Holmes Beach.
The Local Group of Deep Sky Observers' free event is open to the public and may offer a view of Mercury, along with Jupiter and the moon in its first-quarter phase, among other objects in space.
The event will take place at Holmes Beach City Field, north of Holmes Beach City Hall. City Hall is at 5801 Marina Drive. It will start at sunset and end at 10 p.m. at the earliest.
