Smash Mouth to Play in Downtown Palmetto on Independence Day

Posted

PALMETTO – Multi-platinum rock band Smash Mouth will take to the outdoor Pavilion at historic Sutton Park in Downtown Palmetto for a free concert on the evening of Monday, July 4th, 2016 for the 2016 Fourth Fest. The park will open at 4:00 p.m. with an opening performance and the Mayor’s Pledge of Allegiance, followed by Smash Mouth at 7:00 pm.

"Smash Mouth is a fun, vibrant group, and we are excited that they’re available to perform at our Fourth Fest concert this year," said Palmetto Mayor Shirley Groover Bryant. "We were hoping to find an upbeat group that would help us celebrate our country’s birthday."

Since bursting onto the scene in 1997 with the hit single "Walking on the Sun", Smash Mouth has collectively sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. Well known for performing a dynamic and eclectic cover of The Monkees classic "I'm a Believer," which was prominently featured on the Shrek movie soundtrack, all three co-founding band members – Steve Harwell, Greg Camp, and Paul DeLisle – are as tight today as they were the day they first jammed together in their hometown of San Jose, California.

Having long since established itself as the ultimate true-to- life California party-band, the vibe surrounding Smash Mouth is indeed – at its core – about having fun.
