Ballard Elementary's Media Center was given a boost recently at the Manatee Community Foundation, where the school was given a $2,500 grant for books. The grant was provided by the Eugene F. and Elizabeth Hull Fund.
The Media Center's new books will be part of its participation in promoting grade-level reading and the school's Literacy Initiative, which aims to see students make heavier use of its library. The books to be purchased with the grant span several genres and reading levels, and include both fiction and non-fiction as well as graphic novels.
