Spotlight on Education: Student Robotics Club to Make Special Trip to County Landfill, Reservoir

Posted
BRADENTON – A special trip to both the county's landfill and its water reservoir will be made in early December by student members of the First Lego League. In addition to learning how to recycle both solid waste and water, FLL club members will also do research at the landfill in an attempt to find ways for how to decrease future waste.

The First Lego League is an international robotics club, of which students from various schools in the Manatee School District are part of. The trip, which will take elementary students to the two locations, is aligned with this year's theme for the club: waste reduction.

The trip will take place in the morning on Tuesday, December 1. According to a press release on the event, the day's challenge for the students "consists of a real world problem that the students must research and find a solution to solve it. Students will also solve a problem using core values, a list of ethical rules that they should follow in everyday life."
