BRADENTON – On Saturday, April 9, Florida Supreme Court Justice Peggy Quince will speak at a luncheon hosted by the League of Women Voters of Manatee County. The subject of Quince's talk is "What's At Stake: A Fair and Impartial Judiciary," and will include discussing the judiciary's role in our society, and proposals to change the appointment process for judiciaries.
A Justice in the court since 1998, Quince was appointed by a joint agreement between then-Gov. Lawton Chiles and Gov.-elect Jeb Bush. She is the first African American to be appointed to Florida's highest court.
Reservations (required) are due by April 4. The cost for the program, which includes the lunch and the talk, is $35 for LWV members and $40 for non-members. Reservations can be made by calling 941-729-9248 or by going to
