Dave played for the Buffalo Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche before finally settling in Tampa where he finished his NHL career as the captain of 2004 Stanley Cup Championship team, the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Throughout his career, Dave has played in two All Star games (in 1990 and 1994), set two NHL records as power-play goals leader with 28 (1991-1992) and 32 (1992-1993) and ranks 5th in most games played in NHL history, with 1,639.
