Monday, May 10

Manatee County TDC Meeting, 9 a.m., City Hall, Holmes Beach
The Tourist Development Council meeting will include a sports update, the Fall 2009 Visitor Profile Study, a review of trust fund balances, a marketing update, a sales report, a Convention Center and Crosley Estate report, as well as other regular monthly reports.

Manatee County School Board Meeting, 5:45 p.m., Bradenton
The School Board will hold a public hearing for consideration of an amendment dealing with student reassignment to reduce overcrowding at Rowlett Elementary. This request is to eliminate the existing attendance area for Rowlett Elementary School and modify the designated attendance areas for Orange Ridge and Samoset Elementary Schools, utilizing Policy 5.7 (3)(b)-Realignment. All students who wish to attend Rowlett would apply through the School Choice Program, allowing for a better distribution of students and better utilization of available capacity in order to meet mandated class-size requirements.

Tuesday, May 11

Manatee County Board of Commissioners Meeting, 9 a.m, Bradenton
The County Commission will discuss the Manatee Beach concession. The board will consider a new five-year license agreement for Manatee Beach Concession, which will bring in an additional $126,000 more than the current agreement, annually. County Administrator Ed Hunzeker will recommend the Board accept United Parks Service’s (UPS) proposal to pay the County a minimum of $342,000 annually to operate the beach concession through 2015. UPS's most recent experience includes operating the concession for Fort Desoto Park in Pinellas County. The company’s proposal offers the highest guaranteed compensation and offers the County a 4 percent share of sales over $2.5 million, projected to bring an additional $18,520 in the first year alone. The agenda will also include Centec Equipment, the Port Authority Meeting, the Caruso School site, and transportation project priorities

Holmes Beach City Commission Meeting, 7 p.m., Holmes Beach City Hall
On the agenda is a second reading of ordinance 10-01(Waste Management Exclusive Franchise) and 10-02 (priority status for liens arising from CEB orders), Robert Douglas' reappointment to the Board of Adjustment, appointment of Thomas Creed as member of the C.E.B., along with announcements and regular reports.

 

Wednesday, May 12

Bradenton City Council Meeting, 8:30am, Bradenton
A presentation from State Representative Ron Reagan, a public hearing regarding the city's industrial revenue bonds, and the reading of a proposed ordinance banning new "pain management clinics" within the city.

Manatee County Code Enforcement Board, 9 a.m., Bradenton

Thursday, May 13

Manatee County Planning Commission, 9 a.m., Bradenton

The commission will discuss a replacement message center for the Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex, as well as several rezoning considerations. A planning commission workshop will be held from 8:30 until 9 a.m.
