Lynn C. Miles, 84, transitioned to Heaven on November 13th, 2014. At 6'7”, he was a gentle giant with a big heart and a friendly smile. An avid reader and sports fanatic, he was never without conversation material and statistics. Football, Basketball, and Golf were his favorites.
A true Midwesterner, he was born in Aurora Illinois on May 21st, 1930 and grew up in Chicago attending St. Gregory H.S. and Loyola University. During this period, he played basketball and was the drummer in a band. Most importantly, he met the love of his life, Margaret Mary Robertson. (Peggy) They were married on March 31st, 1951.
Starting his lifelong career in the Insurance Industry, he travelled the back roads of every small town in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, Nebraska, and Iowa. Wearing out a lot of Chevrolets and Fords along the way.
He was a human roadmap who could recite time, route, and distance within his territory better than a modern GPS. Through his diligence and determination, he worked his way up with Pearl Insurance Group eventually serving as its President from 1990-1995. Not one to sit around after his “retirement”, he moved permanently to their Florida home and started his own business serving the Real Estate community with E&O insurance until 2011 when he sold his company.
He is survived by Peggy his loving wife of 63 years, and 4 sons, Kevin C. Miles (Marylynn), Terrance C. Miles (Danna Miner), Michael R. Miles (Deborah), and Timothy S. Miles. There are 9 grandchildren, Kerry, Emily, Christopher, Lauren, Katherine, Meghan, Jennifer, Frederick, and Jack.
