BRADENTON--The City of Bradenton’s Tree and Land Preservation Board has three vacancies it seeks to fill, one landscape nursery professional, one city resident and one alternate. The board meets in the Planning and Community Development Conference Room at 4:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month at Bradenton City Hall.
Applications for the Tree Board and all the City’s other volunteer boards may be obtained at the City Hall Human Resources Department, 101 Old Main St. A copy can be requested by contacting the Human Resources Department at (941) 932-9457 or can be downloaded by clicking here. Send the application along with a resume and cover letter to: Mayor Wayne Poston, 101 Old Main St., Bradenton, FL 34205. Board members are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.
The purpose of the Tree Board is to promote awareness of the City-wide tree canopy and tree education programs, and open space and parklands preservation initiatives. The board may also, when determined by the Department of Planning and Community Development, advise owners of buildings, land, and other properties that may impact the City’s tree canopy and open spaces, and other lands concerning the treatment of the natural, visual characteristics and value of such properties. The board works closely with City departments, various civic and private groups, individuals, and outside agencies and organizations.
