Posted

The Key Club at Bayshore High School is hosting an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament this Saturday, April 24, 2010 to benefit a secondary school in Port Au Prince, Haiti that was severely damaged by the recent earthquake.

Medgine Auguste, a Bayshore student of Haitian descent, is the Vice President of the school’s Key Club and the driving force behind this fundraiser. Her uncle is the principal of the secondary school in Port Au Prince that will benefit from the proceeds. He was trapped underneath rubble in his office at the school for nearly a day before he was rescued.

The Ultimate Frisbee Tournament is expected to begin at 9 a.m. in the Bayshore High football stadium. Invitations have been extended to teams from other area high schools and entry fees are $5 per participant ($50 per team). Each participant in the tournament will receive a t-shirt.

Tickets to attend the tournament are $2, or a package of school supplies. The Cortez Kiwanis will be on hand to sell concessions including pulled pork barbecue and hot dogs.

For additional information, please contact Bayshore Science Teacher and Key Club Advisor Jennifer O’Connor at 751-7004, ext. 2305.
