The annual Tribute To Heroes Luncheon will be held on Friday at the Bradenton Municipal Auditorium. Tickets are $30 each and proceeds go to the Emergency Services Memorial Fund, which was created after 9/11 by the Manatee County Fire Chiefs Association. The Fund was set up to assist the families of emergency work?ers killed or maimed in the line of duty. The Palmetto Patriot Day Freedom Weekend activities commence with a ceremony at Palmetto Historical Park at 5:30 p.m. A motorcade of Rolling Thunder Florida Chapter 11 motorcyclists will start the event which will feature the ROTC color guard, a mayoral address and the ceremonial return of the Ground Zero flag to the City of Palmetto.

A special Prayer and Memorial Service will be held Sunday at the Emergency Services Memorial in Rossi Waterfront Park. The Prayer Service will be 8:30-9 a.m. and the Memorial Service from 9:30 - 10 a.m. The Memorial Service will pay tribute to those who died on 9/11 as well as honor those who risk their lives daily protecting our community.

Manatee County’s 5th Annual 9/11 Remembrance Ride will follow the Sunday services. This police-escorted event will leave at noon from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, and end in Bradenton Beach. This is an open event and all classes of motorcycles are welcome. Space is first come, first serve. Register for free between 9:30-11 a.m. at the sheriff’s office.
