Due to an overwhelming amount of community support, Ellenton Ice and Sports will reopen the practice session for a final public performance of the U.S. Olympians at 1:10 to 2:10 p.m. This performance is the last time the public will be able to see the skaters before they leave for Vancouver on Monday, Feb. 8.
Brett Kaplan said in a press release that this practice is a gift to the public.
Then meet at Palma Sola Botanical Park from 5 to 7:30 p.m. for A Taste of Cuba.
It will be an evening filled with authentic Cuban food, Spanish music and merriment.
The cost of the event is $30 at the door and includes dinner, drinks, entertainment and a one-year membership for the Desoto National Memorial ”Friends“ group.
The Bradenton Yacht Club also has a tasty event this evening at A Night in Margaritaville, a tropical-style themed charity event featuring renowned author and guest speaker Debra Day Poor, LCSW. She is the author of best selling book "Peace at Any Price, How to Overcome the Please Disease.“
The tickets are $25 dollars and include one raffle ticket, a buffet dining at the Bradenton Yacht Club, tropical music and atmosphere, presentation and book signing.
A full cash bar will be available.
The proceeds from the event benefit the Manatee Program of Volunteers of America, assisting veterans and adults with severe and chronic mental illness.
If art is on your mind instead, and in your spirit, stop off at the Dancing Crane gallery and check out Bernice Gaines work from 6 to 9 p.m.
She is a watercolor artist and will feature at the opening her paintings of the local beauty in our community.
The show will run through Feb. 27.
"My love for the outdoors inspired me to become a plein air painter,“ Gaines said. ”The beauty of nature continually provides me with an array of subject matter.“
