West University Parkway Road Detours Planned Beginning February 28

MANATEE–-A small section of West University Parkway near 15th Street East, will be closed for up to eight days later this month while crews replace rail lines that cross the road. Traffic in the area will be rerouted from February 28 through March 7, barring significant weather delays.

Seminole Gulf Railway will begin rail line repairs on February 28. After the crossing has been rebuilt, Manatee County Public Works crews will repair the damaged pavement by installing reinforced steel and pouring concrete for a long lasting, durable surface.

Variable message boards with information on the closure will be displayed February 22. Detour signs will be displayed beginning February 28. The closure is not expected to impact Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.
