William Henry "Bill" Edwards, 71, passed away on September 7, 2024, in Blairsville, Georgia. Born on December 11, 1952, in Akron, Ohio, Bill was known for his profound dedication to his community and his loving nature as a husband, father, and friend.
Bill's life was marked by his unwavering service to others. He was an integral part of the Kiwanis Club since the 1970s, where he held various significant roles, including that of Distinguished President. He also received the highest honor of the George F. Hixon award, reserved for those of generosity and for improving the world by making lasting differences in the lives of the children in our community. His leadership extended to several community boards including the Construction Trades Board, where he served as Chairman, and the DeSoto Historical Society, where he was a dedicated Crewe member and driver of the ship. Bill was also a proud graduate of the Leadership Manatee Program.
In 2019, after a distinguished career at Armstrong Bros Plumbing, a family-run company now in its fourth generation, Bill retired to the Georgia mountains with his wife and their beloved furry companions. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Angela Marie Edwards; daughter(s), Ann Nicole Edwards, Nikki Amanda Goslin, Krista Edwards; son, Mark Anthony Goslin (Amy); grandson, Anthony Lee Goslin; sister, Rebecca Surgenor (Tim). He is predeceased by his sister, Betty Joyce Thompson and (Tim); his brother, Lee Edwards (Carla); his mother, Betty Jane Williams Edwards-Dial, and father, Robert Lee Edwards.
A Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Friday, September 13, 2024, at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, 43rd Street Chapel, Bradenton, FL 34209. A Funeral Service will be 10 AM, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, with a Graveside service at 3:30 PM, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Mansion Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lewy Body (https://www.lbda.org/) and The Parkinson's Foundation (https://support.apdaparkinson.org/), a cause close to Bill's heart. Bill's legacy of kindness, leadership, and community service will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
