William (Billy) Walter Meglan, age 69, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, in Bradenton, Florida.
Born on January 5, 1955, to Walter and Barbara (DeOre) Meglan, Billy grew up in Deer Park, NY, and he graduated in 1973 from Holy Family High School in Huntington, NY. He later attended The State University of New York in Farmingdale, pursuing education that would lay the foundation for his multifaceted career. Known for his strong work ethic, Billy spent much of his life employed as a skilled pipe fitter, plumber and also found joy in self-employment with a clamming business and also as a painter.
Billy's life was filled with vibrant passions and cherished hobbies. He was happiest on the water enjoying fishing, clamming, and boating. A dedicated handyman, he often immersed himself in home improvement projects and gardening, bringing life and beauty to his surroundings. His love for nature and the outdoors was matched only by his devotion to God, his family, friends, and his treasured pets. Billy will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering faith.
Predeceased by his father, Walter Meglan, Billy is survived by his mother, Barbara Meglan, and his three sisters: Barbara (Ron) Leunk, Beth (Kurt) Phinney, and Brenda Meglan. He leaves behind a loving legacy in his nieces, Heather Davis and Kate Grochowski; nephews, Alex Phinney and Ryan Leunk; and four grandnieces and nephews. His presence in their lives was a blessing, and his memory will live on in their hearts.
Billy's life was a testament to love, faith, and resilience, and he will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Billy's life will be celebrated on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles Catholic Church, 2850 75th St West, Bradenton, FL 34209.
Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles Memorial Garden.
A reception will take place at the Msgr. Moretti Center, at Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles Catholic Church.
