Wonder and Whitmore Debate County Commission Issues

Posted

BRADENTON – Manatee County Commission District 6 Republican Commissioner Carol Whitmore debated Democratic challenger Terri Wonder on METV Wednesday afternoon. The two candidates face off November 4 in the countywide race.

Wonder attacked Whitmore as a commissioner who has failed to represent the majority of her constituents in favor of special interests. She noted the failed health care sales tax referendum and the scandal at animal services, which Whitmore has long championed.

Whitmore defended her work with the No-Kill program, claiming she did everything she could as a board member to make sure the program's integrity was restored. She argued that Wonder lacked credibility on the health care referendum because she did not vote in the special election.
