BRADENTON – I’ll admit I was a little nervous about ”Bark in the Park“, a promotion in which dogs were invited to take in the action at tonight’s game, but the canines were well behaved. In fact, the only thing quieter than the dogs was the Bradenton bats.
Graham Stoneburner was subtly masterful in shutting down the Marauders tonight at Mckechnie Field, as the Tampa Yanks took the lead in the series, 2-1. Stoneburner allowed only 2 hits over seven scoreless innings, striking out 5 and walking only 1 batter. Stoneburner threw relatively few pitches, successfully getting Marauders to put balls into play and was assisted by solid defense.

Brain Leach took a tough loss, also showing good control, giving up only a single walk over 5 innings work. After giving up a lead-off homer to left-fielder Jack Rye in the first, Leach settled in to a good groove, but didn’t get the offensive support.
Robbie Grossman hit an RBI double in the seventh and Quincy Latimore and Tony Sanchez each knocked one in, and it looked like the Marauders were poised to come back, but a two-run Yankee ninth was the nails in the coffin. The series concludes tomorrow at 1 p.m., when the only dogs will be the two for $5 hot dog special, one of the best deals in town!
