Wallace Michael McKinney, age 82, of Bradenton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 9, 2023, at his residence.

His loving wife was by his side as he was taken home to his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. Mike was born on August 12, 1940, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Lyle and Mildred McKinney. In 2000, he married Paula (Lentz) Pitcher and together they moved from Bristol, IN., to Bradenton, FL. Together they strengthened their faith and experienced adventures full of tears and laughter as they lived a blessed marriage.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Paula McKinney; a sister, Jeanne Poll (Gaylord, MI); his children Larry (Lynn) McKinney, Daniel McKinney and Debbie McKinney all of Elkhart, IN. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jeremy, Joshua, Chris and Jason McKinney; Adric Mayall; Raysha (Luis) Muro, Brandon (LeAnna) Elkins and his great-grandchildren Katherine, Indica, Catalina and Isaac.

For 30 years, Mike was an over-the-road truck driver, including 16 years with Wells Cargo before moving to Bradenton where began another journey. Mike and Paula traveled extensively throughout the USA, but Glacier Park Montana was always one of Mike s favorite spots. Mike loved camping, golfing, fishing and boating on the Manatee River. He always entertained his friends with his stories and quirky humor whether on the course, the water or playing cards with his buddies.

As Mike came to know God more intimately, he learned to trust in Him. Mike was supportive in several Bradenton churches and helped to develop a golf fellowship with many friends who shared in faith and inspiration. He was an active member of the Bradenton Christian Reformed Church and devoted his time to Hope Seeds International, Bradenton Branch, packing seeds for shipments to other countries. His most recent record was 6600 packages and Mike took great pride in being able to contribute to this ministry, knowing he was serving God.

Mike will be missed by his friends and loved ones, but they are at peace knowing he is on his next journey with his Lord and Savior.
