BRADENTON – The storm has cleared and the skies throughout the weekend are predicted to be clear and cool, perfect conditions for taking in some live music. Perhaps more perfect are the bands and musicians scheduled to perform at area venues. Check out the Bradenton Times Weekend Sounds to see what bands you can catch and where.

Motorworks Brewing
Friday: 7-11 p.m.
22Nis a favored west coast party and dance band. The group plays music from the full spectrum of genres and generations. From pop, country, rock, metal, disco, and Top 40, if you’ve heard it on the radio, they probably play it. 22N is a high-energy group made of five musicians including a female lead singer. The group utilizes video screens and effect lighting to amplify their show. Some artists they cover include Bruno Mars, Pink, Adele, AC/DC, The Cult, Beastie Boys, Journey, Tom Petty, Maroon 5, Motley Crew, Prince, Def Leppard, Queen, Cranberries, and so, so many more! Since its opening in 2014,Motorworks Brewinghas become one of the most awarded breweries in Florida, with over 22 national and international medals. Hot Club of SRQplays gypsy jazz deeply rooted in the style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. This trio's music simply swings and is full of beauty and romance. The Hot Club of SRQ’s sound can best be described as a 21st-century hybrid of the famous Quintette du Hot Club de France. The likeness of these two ensembles is the violin and guitar that makes their music so captivating. Another likeness is the infectious groove known asLa Pompe, which literally meansthe pump, and is an unmistakable hard-swinging rhythmical characteristic of this music. This style of swing jazz is more accessible to a broader audience. No cover.

Trey Wanvigis a 19-year-old blues guitarist and vocalist from Sarasota, Florida. Despite his age, Wanvig has an exceptional reputation as a performer as well as an impressive resume. The young musician was selected by the Grammy Foundation to partake in their Grammy Music Revolution Project conducted at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater.
Wanvig has performed alongside many great artists including Eric Gales, Shemekia Copeland, Bob Margolin, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, Annika Chambers, Janiva Magness, Toronzo Cannon, Paul DesLauriers, Shakura S'Aida, Biscuit Miller, Kenny Neal, Bryan Lee, Doug MacLeod, Ben Rice, Sarah Grace, Tas Cru, Gabe Stillman, Steve Vai, and Eric Johnson. An ambassador for the United by Music North America organization, Wanvig released his first album titledRoadside Bluesin January of 2018, most of which was written when he was just 14 years old. Sycamore Shadeis an acoustic ensemble known for its rich bluegrass harmonies and its living room performance style. The band showcases familiar old-time folk, Americana, and bluegrass standards as well as original compositions, playing a wide variety of music from bluegrass to contemporary music. No cover.

Located in Bradenton Village of the Arts,Cottonmouth Southern Soul Kitchenhas quickly become one of Bradenton, Florida’s more popular outdoor music venues. Music is hosted on their intimate 80-seat capacity patio garden, a perfect setting under the branches of towering live oaks in the heart of VOTA. Known for his eclectic southern dining, Chef Dave Shiplett puts his creative spin on southern classics serving up his brand of southern soul food in this 100-year-old cottage that doubles as an art gallery. Twinkle and Rock Soul Radioreturn to the Motorworks beer garden stage this weekend. Twinkle has worked with Aerosmith, Dickie Betts, Rod Stewart, Gregg Allman, and countless others. In the '90s, she was signed to Warner Brothers for her debut albumHaunted by Real Life, produced by Patrick Leonard (Madonna, Roger Waters, Pink Floyd) where it gained ready attention on the jazz/pop charts for its title song. Rock Soul Radio members are lead vocalist Twinkle, guitarist Lenny Brooks, bassist Tony LeClerc, and Benny Puckett on the drums. No Cover.

Setting out onto a path with music in his youth, the journey has not been without its challenges, butJason Riccihas persevered to become a multi-award-winning blues musician and harmonist. Along the way, Ricci has toured, recorded, and performed with some of the world’s most well-recognized blues, jazz, rock and New Orleans musicians.

In addition to his solo albums, Ricci has appeared as a guest harmonica player on albums with Johnny Winter, Terence Blanchard, Nick Curran, Ana Popovic, Walter Trout, Cedric Burnside, The Mannish Boys, and Joe Louis Walker among others. He has been named Best Harmonica Player by the Blues Music Awards and recorded on the Grammy-winning Johnny Winter albumStep Back. Ricci played at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Paul Shaffer Band, Tom Morello, and Zac Brown for the induction of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Most recently, Ricci earned his third Blues Music Award in 2022.

Currently based in New Orleans, Ricci tours with his band Jason Ricci and The Bad Kind. In addition, Ricci frequently performs in his current home base of New Orleans with pianist and organist icon, Joe Krown. Ricci and Krown’s trio is a blues, soul jazz, and jazz-funk infusion of New Orleans music. The trio includes New Orleans drummer Wayne Maureau. JoinShip of Foolsfor another Sunday-Funday show at Motorworks! Ship of Fools is a popular local Grateful Dead tribute band, formed in 2012 in Sarasota, Florida. The five-piece classic rock band also performs music by the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Cliff, Van Morrison, Chuck Berry, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, The Band, Talking Heads, Warren Zevon, and more. The popular local bandKettle of Fishhas been performing in clubs, pubs, and venues across Manatee and Sarasota, as well as across Florida and the U.S., for years. Lead singer, guitarist, and band founder Dana Lawrence is one of the area’s favorite singer-songwriters. Kettle of Fish is a band with an ever-fluid rotation of talented local and guest musicians.
Over their years of performing, Kettle of Fish has shared the stage with numerous bands and musicians including Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Roger Waters’ Band, Devon Allman, Pat Travers, Damon Fowler, and Dickey Betts, and they have played opening performances for artists such as Eddie Money, Molly Hatchet, Elvin Bishop, Tommy Castro, Trombone Shorty, the Marshall Tucker Band, Jimmy Buffett (at the famous Blue Heaven in Key West), and many more. East of I-75 on Fruitville Road,Stottlemyer’s Smokehouseis an open-air barbecue restaurant set under an expansive outdoor tiki hut, including an old-Florida style Tiki-bar. Established by the Stottlemyer family, the family-friendly restaurant and live music venue serves brisket, ribs, pulled pork, sandwiches, and salads in a unique atmosphere.
