BRADENTON – This weekend is packed with seasonal celebrations as well as plentiful opportunities to enjoy live music at local venues. Between Celtoberfest in Bradenton, Rocktoberfest in Sarasota, and other great shows lined up across the 941, there’s no shortage of scheduled performances for music lovers to choose from! John Whiteleather Band
Siesta Key Oyster Bar
Friday: 2-6 p.m.

The John Whiteleather Band is a Sarasota-based trio. Starring John Whiteleather on guitar/vocals, Mary Beth Ponder on violin/fiddle/vocals, and Cliffe Shoose on stand-up bass. John and Mary Beth, formerly known as Swamp Donkie, teamed up with ex-Boneshakers' bassist, Cliffe, to form one of the area's most unique sounds. The band performs original music as well as covering popular songs from Springsteen, Mellencamp, Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, and many other known artists. No cover.

Unable to make their Friday show? You can catch the band’s slimmed-down duo performance with members John Whiteleather and Mary Beth Ponder, at Owen's Fish Camp in Sarasota, Sunday, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

About the Venue:
Siesta Key Oyster Bar, or SKOB as it is locally referred, is a family-owned staple of Sarasota’s famous barrier island. SKOB is a quintessential beach-vibe live music venue serving great food and cold drinks in a laid-back atmosphere. Serving seafood/coastal cuisine, Chef Shawn caters the menu to incorporate fresh seasonal ingredients, sourcing pesticide-free and sustainably grown produce whenever possible. The Monsoons
Stottlemyer’s Smokehouse
Friday: 7-10 p.m.

The Monsoons are the hippest new party band, blending the funkiness of New Orleans with good old rock n' roll. Venice-based drummer Pat McDonald spent nearly two decades touring with the world-famous Charlie Daniels Band. Lead guitarist and vocalist Steve Junot is a seasoned musician from New Orleans who toured internationally with a zydeco band as well as having performed countless solo shows. Bassist and vocalist Chris Guertin boasts a career that has taken him to over 90 countries as music director of cruise ships while also having performed as either band member or special guest bassist and vocalist in several locally favored bands. The three members form an experienced and professional trio, toss in their personal brand of charm and humor, and together the three create the perfect conditions for a good time. No Cover.

About the Venue:
East of I-75 on Fruitville Road, Stottlemyer’s Smokehouse is an open-air barbecue restaurant set under an expansive outdoor tiki hut, including an old-Florida style Tiki-bar. Established by the Stottlemyer family, the family-friendly restaurant and live music venue serves brisket, ribs, pulled pork, sandwiches, and salads in a unique atmosphere. Treedomm
CafŽ in the Park
Friday: 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Treedomm is a world music reggae fusion band performing a unique blend of various genres into a root revival listening (and dancing) experience. Melding the roughness of street hip-hop with R&B, the sweetness of island zouk and calypso with reggae, Treedomm creates an innovative sound by meshing each member’s previous musical backgrounds. While combining elements of varied genres, the members apply heartfelt lyrics to their melodies and grooves. The band seeks to provide their audiences with positive sounds, carrying positive messages, that will move listeners of all ages. No cover.

Located in Payne Park, downtown Sarasota, Cafe in the Park captures the spirit of a quintessential urban cafe terrace. The perfect place for a great coffee, a fresh sandwich, and live music. The family-friendly spot has menu selections of healthy cafŽ style food, non-alcoholic beverages, beer, and wine, all served in a community park setting. World music and reggae fusion band, Treedomm

Danielle Mohr
3 Keys Brewing
Saturday: 7-10 p.m.

Native Floridian Danielle Mohr is an acoustic guitarist, vocalist, and "soul-pop“ singer-songwriter. She has been a featured artist on WMNF's 88.5 Florida Folk Show, Musician's Wanted, and Acoustic Peace Club. Mohr has performed to audiences at Ruth Eckerd Hall, Capitol Theatre, and Clearwater Jazz Fest. Her talented use of a looping pedal allows her to create layered tracks of harmonies and rhythm, to support clever and thoughtful lyrics over eclectic guitar melodies. While she will be performing a solo show at 3 Keys, Mohr is also the lead singer and songwriter for a band called HoneyWhat. As a solo act, Mohr puts her mark on the music she plays, whether she is performing a cover song or one of her originals. No cover.

Kat Riggins and her Blues Revival
Cottonmouth Southern Soul Kitchen
Saturday: 7:30-10:30 p.m.

Kat Riggins is a Miami-born singer and songwriter. Inspired by the variety and abundance of music in her parents’ collection, it makes sense that her own music is peppered with hints of R&B, soul, country, gospel, hip-hop, and rock-n-roll. Make no mistake; however, Kat Riggins is undeniably a blues woman! In 2021, Riggins received a Blues Music Award Nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album from the Blues Foundation for her album Cryout and won two Independent Blues awards for Best Contemporary Blues Band and Best Contemporary Blues Album. "A petite vocalist with a potent delivery and electrifying voice, Kat Riggins holds nothing backÉ“ says Blues Blast Magazine. Riggins tours nationally and internationally on a mission to keep the blues alive and thriving through her Blues Revival Movement. Tickets are $20 in advance and $30 on the day of the performance.

Located in Bradenton Village of the Arts, Cottonmouth Southern Soul Kitchen has quickly become one of Bradenton, Florida’s more popular outdoor music venues. Music is hosted on their intimate 80-seat capacity patio garden, a perfect setting under the branches of towering live oaks in the heart of VOTA. Known for his eclectic southern dining, Chef Dave Shiplett puts his creative spin on southern classics serving up his brand of southern soul food in this 100-year-old cottage that doubles as an art gallery. Damon Fowler
Big Top Brewing Company
Sunday: 3-5 p.m.

Catch Damon Fowler this Sunday as he returns to Big Top’s "Blues & Brews,“ the venue’s weekly residency concert. Fowler is a masterful singer, guitarist, and songwriter. A hard-driving troubadour, his music is steeped with soul and representative of the many styles that make up the roots of American music. He has gained the respect of his peers given his featured slot in Butch Truck’s Freight Train band and his side gig as guitarist in the Dickey Betts Band. Critics have compared Fowler’s guitar work to Johnny Winter and Jeff Beck, while his slide guitar is reminiscent of the late Duane Allman. The Florida native’s hybrid of roots rock, blues, songwriting, and vocals have earned him professional accolades from fellow artists and music journalists alike. No cover.

Big Top Brewing Company is a Sarasota-based production brewery. Valuing their great town and its great history, they set out to add in a great local beer. Sarasota Rocktoberfest

October 15-17, 2021, Paragon Festivals with the Downtown Sarasota Enrichment Association and their special guest the Humane Society of Sarasota County bring an authentic 3-Day Oktoberfest experience coupled with fantastic live musical performances to downtown Sarasota in JD Hamel Park. Admission to this Family-Friendly event is free!

Festivalgoers will find a wide variety of food plus a German feast fit for King Ludwig himself! Dine on German foods like Schweinshaxe (roasted ham hock), Steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick), Wurstl (Sausages), Brezen (pretzels), Knodel (potato or flour dumplings), Kasespatzel (cheese noodles), sweet mustards, sauerkraut, red cabbage and more! Celtoberfest Celtic Music Festival
Motorworks Brewing

Motorworks Brewing in Bradenton will host the 6th Annual Celtoberfest Celtic Music Festival from October 15-17, in the brewery's scenic beer garden. Back from their successful tour up the East Coast, Celtic World Music band Eirann's Call will be among the performers.

A fantastic fusion of beer-swilling, kilt-sporting, lederhosen-loving merriment, and live music throughout the weekend, Celtoberfest is a Celtic and Bavarian culture clash that creates a unique spectacle, to say the least.

Eireann’s Call will be performing from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 16. Other bands announced thus far include:
