SARASOTA – Attorney Anne L. Weintraub will be honored as the “Humanitarian of the Year” by Temple Sinai at an awards gala Saturday, March 1, 2014.

Widely known throughout Florida for her philanthropy, Weintraub is a partner and founding member of the Band Weintraub P.L. law firm. Her practice focuses on real property closings, title insurance and foreclosure avoidance.

“Anne Weintraub has impacted this community in a very special way,” said Mark Richmond, Vice President of Development for Temple Sinai. “She spends a tremendous amount of time working with organizations that support our community, and that make a difference in people’s lives. She is more than deserving of this honor.”

Attorney Weintraub recently served as Chair of the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron’s Ball fundraiser, and Co-chair of the Hermitage Artists Retreat’s Artful Lobster fundraiser. In February she will host a fundraiser for The Joshua Chapnick Epilepsy Endowment Fund. She serves on numerous boards, including the board of Stetson University’s College of Law Board of Overseers; the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee Campus Board; the Corporate Board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sarasota County, and the board of the Joshua Chapnick Epilepsy Endowment Fund.

Past community service includes serving as the President of the Stetson University College of Law Advisory Council to the Dean of the School. She also served as a member of the Board of the Young Lawyers Division of the Sarasota County Bar Association, Chairwoman of the Sarasota Association of Realtors/Sarasota County Bar Association Joint Committee, and Chair of the Women’s Leadership Council of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County.

Attorney Weintraub is credited with helping residents throughout southwest Florida, many on a pro-bono basis, navigate the challenges of foreclosure. An acclaimed and in-demand public speaker, she has received numerous accolades and recognition for her efforts to educate members of the public about real estate, insurance, foreclosure avoidance and short sales. She is often called upon by the media for quotes and to address and interpret the significance to homeowners of emerging real estate issues. She is also heralded as a media personality in her own right. She is currently a columnist for REAL Exclusive Magazine, and formerly served as host of Real Estate Talk with Anne Weintraub on WWSB ABC-7, and as a columnist for “Living Out East” magazine.

Named one of the “25 People to Watch” by Biz941 magazine in 2008, Attorney Weintraub is a graduate of Stetson University College of Law. She received the College’s Outstanding Alumni Award in 2006.  The “Anne L. Weintraub” scholarship, which she endows, is presented annually to a deserving student at her alma mater.

The “Humanitarian of the Year” awards gala will be held Saturday, March 1, at the Francis at Louies Modern, located at 1289 N. Palm Ave., Sarasota, starting at 7 p.m. The evening includes live and silent auctions, dinner, the awards presentation, entertainment and dancing.
