The main purpose of the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is to eliminate slum and blight. To that end, I’d like to thank the Bradenton CRA Board (which is made up of the City Council members) and CRA Executive Director Katerina Gerakios-Siren and her staff, for acting to make this happen.
We have just acquired a piece of property that included five contiguous slum-and-blighted parcels in the Village of the Arts. This site is 1.6 acres that will now be used for urban redevelopment, potentially parking and other potential uses as well.
No matter what we end up doing with it, this is very exciting news and progress. We are cleaning up blighted properties and putting them to good use.
