Electric Scooters Coming to Bradenton

Posted
BRADENTON – The Bradenton City Council recently voted to approve an ordinance and vendor to launch a scooter program in the Friendly City. Soon, you will have the option of renting a Bird electric scooter at various docking stations throughout the city.

A notice in the city's newsletter said that contract negotiations with Bird are ongoing and that many details still need to be finalized. A date is not yet certain.

Once the contract is signed and delivered, however, the city says that scooter riders will be able to rent a ride using Bird's smartphone app or a phone-based pre-paid system. Scooter rides will begin and end at docking station locations that have yet to be determined.

Information on how and where to rent the scooters and how to ride safely will be disseminated by Bird and the city once a timeline is finalized.
