Buchanan sent out a survey (lame) as it was about the "big B bill" and the majority did NOT support the bill. BUT Vern does not care...he is counting his tax savings in his bunker. Was it the "will of the people"?

Yikes where to begin! I find myself commenting on this Uthmeier buffoon again and he is our Attorney General? I find him in contempt of Florida besides a court. His relationship with DeSantis bears an uncanny parallel to that of Trump and his lackey Steven Miller. Both men profit off of their shared evilness. Returning to this prison idea I must wonder what ever happened to DeSantis’s Haitian detention center that he built to combat the influx of Haitian immigrants? Since there aren’t any Haitians why not save our natural resources and money and use that? Furthermore, our state national guard, “ fort,” could house overflow detainees. Actually it might be cheaper to put DeSantis and Uthmeier on a plane to a Central American location? James Tierney

I have been a fan of Bradenton Times for a bit now, but THIS article made me subscribe. Mitch Maley you are spot on. I was truly shocked at the response to Mamdani's run and subsequent win in New York. The dem party has lost its way.

We need a law that establishes the Byrd rule at all levels of government, not allowing extraneous wording to be attached to a bill. All bills should have one subject and stand on their own merit. Too much pork and harmfully legislation is hidden in bills that otherwise are good for the public.

My family had many cats over the years. We had one who died of feline distemper. It's not pretty. My current cat, Harley, who is 12, has his vaccinations (FVCRP, FELV, rabies) every year even though he is entirely an indoor cat. His outdoors is my screened porch. He is my family and one should always take care of family. Pets are usually not allowed in the community I live in. I am allowed to have him because of a letter from my doctor for having an emotional support animal (after my husband passed) and filing paperwork to the park office annually showing he has had his shots and is licensed. I adopted him when the county cat town was near the Administration Building (Manatee Ave W and 10th St W).

How sad that we have a President who does not, nor ever did, care about the people of this country. The illegal immigrants and murders were just a ploy to get elected because your skin is brown and not white like mine.

"the sky is falling" all around us....rouge federal and state employees ignoring the rule of the law. Is Uthmeier looking for recognition from Mr Cheeto? Our "bully" governor has lost his shine..so he is looking for new "coat tails".. How sad for residents of Florida.

Looks like it will do nothing for our condo association. We are replacing all the roofs in hope of a lower insurance rate. Our current deductible is so high that it rarely pays for anything, including the last three major storms. Monthly fees are now equal to a mortgage payment.

here is a logical replacement for the ACA, Medicare for all. The ACA, Medicare Advantage plans, Part B & D Medicare plans and many State Medicaid programs are for profit corporations that cost you, through the government more than traditional Medicare. Health insurance is a shared risk endeavor. By instituting Medicare for all you expand the risk pool to cover all Americans and reduce the current per Capita Medicare cost from $15,000 to approximately $5,000. This move would save costs for businesses and individuals, while returning the focus of providers to quality as opposed to profit.

Kudos to the BOCC for finally denying a rezone. We have seen too many agricultural and residential acreage rezoned to accommodate the builders. Clear cutting, flooding, traffic and infrastructure seem to be a builders afterthought if at all. Let’s not rezone anything until wetland setbacks have been restored and impact fees increased to match 100% of current costs!

With Trump it's out with USAID and in with what the US does best, bombing and killing. We're catching up with the Russians and the Nazis as to who has killed more people in the history of the world.

Sounds like fun and I will probably check into the tour. However: "Adults-ONLY Spooky Fun: A thrilling, ADULTS-ONLY experience—perfect for group outings, date nights, private events, or team bonding with a chilling twist." Followed by: Tickets for adults are $20, and for children, they are $12. Does not compute. There is a contradiction that does not make sense. Is it Adults Only or is a Family Affair where Children are Welcomed?

A friend has used the service. Sometimes the car arrives on time, other times it never arrives. The service still has a few wrinkles in the communication department. The drivers are generally friendly. But would someone from Bradenton explain to me why Palmetto has five grocery stores and Bradenton downtown has one Hispanic grocer. We have been requesting one for years and have heard we don't have enough residents. Really? And Palmetto has enough for five major chains? If Bradenton is serious about becoming a walkable city they MUST get a full service grocery store. Walmart to Whole Foods or anything in between would suffice. Maybe a movie theater for entertainment. Another great add for walkability: a trolley for getting around from Wares Creek to Braden River, along Manatee/6th Ave and another Trolley line from the Hospital to the new apartments at Desoto Mall, then down past the bus station with a stop there and then circle back north up 9th Street West. Run them regular so folks don't need cars to get to work or grocery shopping or the doctors. First a real grocery store in downtown Bradenton...PLEASE?

So glad that, 6 months ago, Commissioner Kruse and this new board decided to put its foot down and lay down the law. This new commission was going to be 'for the people' and 'all about transparency.' They all sang *** bay yah together, patted themselves on the back and put an end to these last minute agenda items. No more would the public be left in the dark, with no advanced notice. Nope, there was a new sheriff holding the gavel and this board was gonna be run the right way, the ethical way, the transparent way. Oh wait, never mind. Actually, the rule is that there is to be no last minute agenda items, unless someone wants to do add one. Almost every meeting, we've seen this so-called new policy ignored. Every time, Kruse eloquently makes an excuse as to why this one needs to be an exception. This time, the all-purpose excuse of "approaching storm season" was used. Oh, and there was the fear-factor added that the county management would be "overwhelmed" unless this was approved right now. Overwhelmed? Really? - where there are already two Deputy Administrators, each Department has a Department Director plus at least one Deputy Director. Each Division has a manager... Yep, my God, I don't know how they've survived with so few managers. I'm so glad this new BOCC and Chair ended those shenanigans of the prior board that we soundly voted out. See how different things are?
