I am so grateful for the detailed and objective reporting that members of LWV do on the School Board meetings. It gives great insight as to how decisions by this board affect thousands of students and families. This awareness is vital when voters evaluate who should or should not be re-elected.

“Bad Bills” is kind of a nice way of putting it! I would think,” zany,” is more appropriate. As one reads the contents it almost seems that Floridians will not be able to speak, comment, express opinions and certainly not criticize, “the government”! Additionally, when one looks at these so called bills what about homeowners insurance, water, and other simple things that citizens actually need? Perhaps we’re not allowed to want these things? I know it’s really important to me whether a person is he, her, they, them, it or other. This really affects my everyday existence. James Tierney

Where he went wrong with the Gov is to ask for "as few conflicts as possible." Conflict is good marketing fodder, and as the Gov has demonstrated a willingness to overuse those tactics (regardless of who it harms.) Bennett may not have made his case... A Supervisor of elections is a key position to those who manipulate the media coverage. And a lot of ground has been laid on the narrative of election fraud. I'm dubious DeSantis will appoint anyone who isn't willing to comply with their marketing strategies.

The only answer here is to replace these sad little commissioners.

Another sad day in Manatee County. How are they going to deal with even more traffic pouring into the downtown area? Developers first.........

If I was a betting person, I would bet that KVO (who was the one who stopped call-in to meetings) got with his yes man Bishop, who as administrator, and directed him to have the department to disable the comments. So much for transparency and allowing for input from the constituents. We already know he doesn't listen to public comments even at the actual board meetings. Also look how many times things are added to the agenda after the comment deadline so things get through without any public comment on record.

When a woman who has voiced fear of the perpetrator, "was likely consensual" is inadequate as a characterization — and police ought to be aware of such dynamics. They ought to have declined to make a judgment of "likely". The entire sorrid mess should have been passed directly to the state attorney (thankfully, one statement by the attorny indicated that all will be reviewed). Hope the progress of this case is not determined by politics, the perpetrator already has admitted to secretly making the video — that seems an "unlikely" need in willing participation with a fellow threesome partner... where voyerism "likely" was an element as well as adultry and lesbianism. Let's hope the state attorney has the courage to be rational when examining a situation involving the secrecy and the fear expressed to an associate of the worman filing the complaint that also prompted the initial call. Those familiar with sexual abuse dynamics should be involved in the examination here — certianly police should have such awareness and not be motivated to make a call that is "unlikely".

Republicans the party of lawbreaking and obstruction. Anything to stay in power. They keep border policy in limbo to gain votes and the same with Ukraine. They've had many chances to cooperate on a comprehensive border policy. And how stupid to not keep Russia engaged in a grinding war that degrades their military day by day. Vote blue for an America that gets things done.

The Musgrave land purchase was a great deal for the County for it's intended purposes. That has fallen by the wayside. The lack of vision and the hate for former commissioners is unacceptable in making it surplus to sell off. Broken promises to the Sheriff, Utilities, and other county departments that could of use part of the 160 acres is a slap in the face to all of them. Once again the BOCC does not listen, does not care about listening to the public or other elected officials like the sheriff his need for space in that area. At the very least they could break it up to smaller lots of say 40 acres each. Fill the needs of our expanding county agencies at what now is a bargain price per acre. This is by far the worst BOCC I have seen in over 40 years. What you allow .. will continue. W Welcome T To F Florida

This is a disappointing outcome. It strikes me that this is a real limitation to the process of democracy. Clearly they do not have any more confidence in their candidate than the public does, otherwise they wouldn't feel the need to assure an outcome in alignment with their interests. Do not like.

Our greatest challenge is to get people to accept the truth about Trump. He sexually assaulted a woman as adjudicated in a court of law. He lost an election and then led an insurrection to overturn the results. He spouted over 30,000 lies during his presidency. These are facts. How do we get people to accept them and move on from him?

Well once again you have a department, this time Utilities moving forward with a 30 Million dollar purchase without any input from the commissioners, taxpayers, voters and citizens in general. No workshops, town hall meetings, nothing to inform the public. With little over-site of department heads this will continue. It has been suggested that in the past, dividing the 160 acres into 4 more attractive parcels would bring better offers, the sheriff would get what was promised and a few workforce house developers could move forward with a more manageable size. Did they listen, of course not. Every time an advisory board or citizens makes these great suggestions instead of embracing good sound recommendations the BOCC gets mad because they didn’t think of it. What a shameful act of defiance and a slap in the face to the rest of us. The developers who own the gang of 6 don’t want it and without their developer handlers advising them, they can’t think for themselves on this issue.

I can't believe the number of people who say no to revisiting this environmental issue especially since Orange County (not a coastal county) has voted to approve a 100-foot buffer for connected wetlands. And Aqua on the Bay proposing a 0-foot buffer along Sarasota Bay wetlands. So much for the 25-foot average 15-foot minimum in the Florida Statutes. Guess this is alternative engineering solutions.
