Jim Strickland is a Manatee County treasure, and a Florida treasure. As a fifth generation rancher residing in Manatee County, he is owner and managing partner of over 4500 acres in a cattle ranch operation adjoining Myakka State Park. His knowledge of and advocacy for conservation easements in Florida is invaluable. About 2% of Florida's population owns all agricultural land, yet approximately a third of Florida's land is currently agricultural. With the growing population and development, it is estimated that we loose about 120 acres of agricultural land a DAY, mostly to development.
