Leadership is everything and Manatee County corruption rots from the head. Do we really expect deputy administrators to act ethically when their boss is known to have violated the most basic of rules - to obtain a building permit prior to a major construction project. Do we expect incorruptibility from an organization led by the person who gave his girlfriend a fat county contract - the same girlfriend who also accused him of sleeping with “Courtney”? Under Beruff, Pedicini, and VanOstenbridge (the 3 people, in that order, running Manatee county) Bishop has moved right up from Property Management to DA over Public Works to Administrator. The fact that Bishop has their support tells us all we need to know about Bishop’s integrity - he doesn’t have any. Gone are Cheri Coryea, Mike Gore, Jeff Godwin, Jan Brewer, Jacob Saur and anyone else who would have acted with integrity and not approved these permits. We are left with the likes of Depol, Knapp, Greer and Butzow. We’ve seen the same thing in Public Safety and Animal Services - where Jodie Fiske and Sarah Brown fire 11 volunteers for no reason, then secretly reinstate them without Bishop saying a word about the disgraceful decision to fire them in the first place. Then Fiske and Brown fail to report the Zotto animal cruelty and Bishop gives Brown a promotion. Good Grief Charlie Brown.
