BRADENTON – Cindy Spray narrowly defeated former Bradenton City Councilman Harold Byrd by 3.5 percent in Tuesday’s non-partisan runoff for the Manatee County District 2 School Board Race.
In a three-way race in August, Spray won the most votes with 38 percent. However, it was widely thought that Byrd and the third candidate, Susan Agruso, had split much of the vote and that Byrd would be favored to win.
Spray, however, was one of three local school board candidates to be endorsed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, all of whom wound up victorious.
