25 Bradenton Students Visit MLK Historic Site

BRADENTON – It was an exciting and memorable Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday for 25 fifth-grade students from Orange Ridge-Bullock Elementary School who traveled to Atlanta to visit the National Historic Site created in his honor. While in Atlanta, the students saw and experienced Martin Luther King Jr.’s museum, birth home, and Ebenezer Baptist Church - where he served as pastor and his final resting place and its accompanying reflecting pool.

The trip, which included a group of chaperones and school staff members, was paid for through a State College of Florida Grant for MLK Community Service Projects, business partner donations and student contributions. Bethel Baptist Church of Bradenton provided each of the students a winter coat to keep them warm during their trip.

The students left for Atlanta at noon on Friday from Orange Ridge-Bullock and as they return today, the students will honor Dr. King’s commitment to service by planning a Peace Garden at the school. They will also honor Dr. King by placing a plaque in the garden.
