Adelia Margaret Hurst, known affectionately as Dee, passed away on August 15, 2024, at the age of 86 in Bradenton, Florida. Born on April 10, 1938, in Hickory, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Everett and Irene Gilbert. Dee was a cherished figure in her community, known for her warmth and generosity.
Dee is survived by her sisters, Nadine G. Gillis of Gainesville, FL, and Wanda G. Maffet of Las Vegas, NV. She also leaves behind a legacy of love with numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews, as well as many special friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Audie F. Fischer, her husband Thomas W. Hurst, and her beloved dog, Spike.
Dee accomplished many things in her life. She loved roller rink skating when she was young, various forms of needlepoint, fishing, playing Solitaire, and listening to Elvis Presley's music as she matured.
Graveside services will be held at Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home at 1221 53rd Ave. East, Bradenton, FL 34203, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 1:00 PM. The family invites all who knew Dee to join in commemorating her life.
