Agnes Brooks

Agnes E. Brooks was born on March 18, 1932, to the late John Barton, Sr., and Agnes M. Barton. Agnes attended and graduated from Lincoln Memorial High School, where she was a stand out on the basketball court.

She worked as a manager for Courtesy Cleaners for many years before retiring at the age of 75 years old. Sister Brooks accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ at an early age under the spiritual leadership of Reverend Mitchell at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.

During her time of membership, she served as President of senior choir and kitchen aide leader for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Barton, Sr., and Agnes M. Barton; husband, Howard Brooks, Sr.; son, Eric L. Brooks, Sr.; brothers, John Barton, Jr., and Jake Barton; and sisters, Diane "Cookie" Green, Millie Ross, Naomi Brown, and Charity J. Jackson. She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Jackie Brooks of Palmetto, FL, Lottie M. Brooks of Rubonia, FL, and devoted son, Howard Brooks, Jr. of Rubonia, FL; devoted grandchildren, Roderick Brooks (Charlene), Cedric Brooks, Sr., Eric L. Brooks, Jr., Erica Brooks of Palmetto, FL, Kerrie Brooks of Palmetto, FL, Tonya Barter of Palmetto, FL, Nancy R. Brooks of Palmetto, FL; several great grandchildren; nine siblings, Harold Barton (Mildred), Thelma Thomas, Rosa Smith, Simpson Barton (Deborah), Darvin Barton, Rutha M. Hayes (Webster), Willie Lee Barton, and Mary Ann Barton; uncle, William B. Barton; brother in law, Eddie Green of Chicago, IL; godchildren, Natalie Jefferson and Kenny; devoted cousin, Marjorie McNeil of Melbourne, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends. A very special thank you to niece, Keturah Hayes, for her nursing skills.
