Anna L. Rizzo

Anna L. Rizzo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend. Anna passed at the age of 94 on August 25, 2023, after suffering a life-threatening stroke.

Anna was the youngest of 7 children born to Stefano and Frances Amato in New York. She met the love of her life, Philip Rizzo, married and had three children, Joseph, Caroline, and Stephen.

Anna worked in New York for Bankers' Trust in the Medical Department as a medical transcriptionist and when the family moved to Lakehurst, NJ, in 1971, Anna took a job as a medical transcriptionist in the X-ray Department of the local hospital, Community Memorial Hospital where she worked for more than 45+ years. During that time, Anna became an intricate part of the Radiology Staff as a Supervisor. She briefly played softball as a catcher and in her retirement bowled with her friends in Cedar Glen West and made some lifelong friendships. Anna loved music and dancing especially to her favorites, Frank Sinatra, Jerry Vale, and Englebert Humperdinck. In 2021, Anna moved to Florida with her son Stephen and Doreen but suffered a life-altering stroke two months after. With hard work and determination, Anna regained her speech. She lived at an Assisted Living Facility, the Villas of Holly Brook, and continued her rehab. She made friends sharing in meals, bingo, movies, Wii bowling, crafting, and a glass of wine or two in their Tiki bar.

Anna loved family, cooking, baking, and feeding people. While working, she made every person a birthday cake and brought her famous cream puffs and cheesecake everywhere she went.

Anna is survived by her children, Joseph P. Rizzo and his fiancee, Julie Brewster, Caroline Rizzo, Stephen Rizzo and wife, Doreen; her grandchildren, Philip Rizzo and wife, Marissa, Anne Marie Rizzo, Stephen Rizzo and fiancee, Jessica Cho, Amanda Coupland and husband, Jared, Deanna Boyle, Joseph Depoutot and fiancee, Charlene Testa, Philip DePoutot and wife, Leslie, Farrah Kirk and husband Craig, and Nina Stegman and husband, Brian. Anna was blessed to have 13 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Friday, September 1, 2023, at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL. Mass Service will be held 10 AM, Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Holy Cross, 505 26th Street West, Palmetto, FL 34221. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Anna with a contribution to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Heart Association in her name.
