Anna Maria Island Bridge Water Main Repairs Resume September 6

Posted

MANATEE COUNTY – Beginning Wednesday, September 6, further work to repair and relocate a water main along the Manatee Avenue (SR 64) Bridge over Anna Maria Sound will require periodic lane closures and periods of one-way traffic.

Daily lane closures can be expected between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. This will allow crews to complete the last phase of this repair—installing additional hangers to support the pipe on the east side of the bridge. Due to safety concerns, the work is not possible at night.

While it is anticipated that the work to secure the pipe will take two to three weeks, specific information on any future closures will be provided as needed. Motorists who want to avoid the work zone should consider accessing Anna Maria Island via the Cortez Bridge.

I just read that this main water line leading to the #1 destination for tourism will not be done for two years!!! Stop spending money on things we don't need and fix our infrastructure.
